Exis Recovery

The Key to an Effective Treatment Plan

Any treatment plan that addresses the mind, but neglects the body and soul, is incomplete. A true holistic treatment plan addresses all three areas. It treats the complete human being. Practices such as yoga and meditation, and therapies like equine, and surf therapy have proven results when it comes to treating mental illness and addiction. If patients wish to work a twelve step program, that is encouraged as well.

Twelve Step programs have a good track record of helping addicts and alcoholics achieve, and maintain, sobriety. It was one of the first treatments for these ailments that proved successful, and to this day millions have achieved recovery through twelve step programs. However, with the advent of modern medicine and psychology, science has given treatment providers revolutionary techniques that can accompany alternate twelve step programs.

We believe that it is our duty to provide science-based psychology that is at the forefront of addiction treatment. All of clinicians at Exis hold a Masters degree or better, and have been working in the field of addiction for years. Their combined education and experience provides a science-based component that we believe is essential to identifying the reasons for use and relapse. Once these core issues are identified in an individual, their chances at long term recovery are improved.

Another piece of a holistic treatment plan for anyone in recovery is giving back to others. Patients who volunteer their time to benefit the community, whether it is feeding the homeless on a Saturday afternoon, or cleaning up the beach, report feeling better about themselves and generally have a more positive outlook on the world. Service to others is a great way for patients in a treatment facility to get outside themselves and reshape their worldview in a positive way.

Finally, it is essential to get an individual in treatment back out into the real world. Life coaching and goal setting is imperative to any recovery plan. Active addiction was a trap door to a self-imposed prison. Personal growth was stunted. Recovery means freedom. The freedom to live the life you always wanted, and achieve the dreams that excite you.

A complete treatment plan must address all of these key components. The goal at the end of treatment is to send you back out into society with the tools for lasting recovery, and the skills to achieve the life you always wanted.
